Teenager from the United States, Erik Finman successfully steal attention after creating a mechanical robot arm that is similar to Dr. Octopus, one of the villains in Spider-Man movies and comics. Finman made the mechanical arm for a Marvel comic fan, Aristou Meehan who also suffered from hypermobility syndrome.
Aristou Meehan assumes that having a arm like Dr. Octopus will make daily activities much easier. But Meehan also feels having such a robotic arm as such is certainly a hard thing to come true.
Erik Finman who is now the youngest billionaire Bitcoin in the world was trying to help realize the dream of Meehan.
"This idea came from Meehan himself because he is a Spider-Man fan, he said a robotic arm like Dr. Octopus would solve his daily problems.I thought it was a smart idea and for me it would be great if I could help him, "said Erik Finman quoted from the Odditycentral page, Monday (18/6).
19-year-old teenager was also started to collect a team consisting of several engineers. Finman and his team used a 3D printer to print the prototype of the mechanical robot's arm. The design and manufacturing process itself takes quite a while, which is about six months, but the results are quite impressive.
Finman's robotic arm consists of four tentacles that can move flexibly. The four are controlled by a microcontroller mounted on the hand.
The eight servo-motors are then powered by 4 Lithium battery cells. Finman said the overall weight of the four arms of the tentacles was about 5.6 kilograms.
"We want the tentacle arm to have a degree of rotation and bending points.We use three very thin carbon fiber cables so that the arm can pull a cup.At the back, there is one motor for each arm.Seeing smarter because we can create it with low cost and super light, "said Finman.
Currently, the prototype of Dr. Robot's arm. This new Octopus is able to lift light objects. But Erik Finman believes that with further refinement and modification, this robotic arm will one day be able to lift objects as heavy as cars, and can be applied in various industries, such as the construction industry or the medical industry.
Erik Finman himself had previously made a commotion after successfully becoming the youngest billionaire thanks to the investment bitcoin. In 2011, he got a prize money of about Rp 14 million from his grandmother. Finman then decided to spend the money to buy Bitcoin.
Erik Finman then racked his brain to earn income from the bitcoin. He eventually sold his bitcoin which was then worth Rp 16.7 million per piece. With his money, he then launched an online education company called Botangle.
